Without testing for crushability before you buy you could end up with a skirt that you can only stand up in.

4. Drape and dress. Have a careful look at the drape of the fabric. Likewise if you need a stiffer material, either to suit your body shape or in a summer jacket, check that the fabric's construction/weave suggests it will hold its shape. Fabrics can be treated to make them appear stiff (called 'dress') but when they are washed they appear limp and lifeless.

5. Fibre content. Check the label for this. If your body is suited to items that fit, particularly over your curves, then look for an indication of this on the label. 'With lycra' or 'with elastane' indicate that some stretch has been built in and fabrics incorporating these fibres can be more flattering. If you have chosen knitwear, then do check the content of the yarn. Wool and acrylic can appear similar but they both wash and wear differently and you need to be aware of this at purchase. Acrylic is more likely to be machine washable, whereas wool is more likely to keep its shape and not stretch in wear.

6. Fabric construction. Is the fabric knitted, for example like jersey or is it woven for example like cotton. Knitted fabrics drape more easily and if your body shape is more suited to this sort of fabric do be cautious when choosing woven fabrics. It is important that you know which sort of fabric suits which part of your body.

7. Decoration. Decoration can make a plain item look really special. There's no need to be put off an item because it has sequins, beads, lace, buckles or buttons but do just think about how you will care for the garment so it continues to look good on you.

There was something to be said about heading home from a long shopping session with arms full of bags that I found hard to explain. Maybe the words I was looking for were anticipation or perhaps excitement.

When you are in the actual shop, you don't really get an inkling of these things because there are just too many distractions, but at home and worn with attitude, your purchase of regular or perhaps interesting clothes, have the ability to become a purchase of great clothes. I suppose it's fair to say that you do lose part of the buzz if you choose to shop for your clothes online, but the more I shop online, the more I'm inclined to forego the smell of the high street hunt in my nostrils in favour of the massive choice online.

I even believe it's possible to experience a similar level of excitement shopping online, especially during the sales. I probably find shopping online more rewarding, knowing that once I've clicked and paid, it's mine. Any high street sale carries no such guarantee. When Shoe Shopping Equals Remortgage

Every season there is one shoe that I totally covet. Last season, it was the mid length cowboy boot which was perfect for my shorter legs. I just couldn't decide between the flat version and the block heeled version, so I got both to settle my mind. I can't say that I have worn either of them more than twice but they sure do look pretty sitting in my antique oak wardrobe.

This season it is the gladiator platform sandal, specifically the new Gucci snakeskin effect gladiator heels with the chunky gold zip up the front. Ahhh! Do not choose colors that will wash out your skin tone, and try to stay away from colors that are loud and slightly strange. Instead, choose a lot of basic white shirts (technically, white isn't a color, but it is quite useful), and some classic reds, blues, and greens. Basic wardrobe planning does leave room for a bit of avante garde style, just don't spend too much on those trendier pieces.

If you cannot live without the latest style, search for these pieces on sales racks. Paying top dollar for a trend that will not last very long is somewhat useless. Instead, look for things that can really appeal to your fashionista side, but don't fork over a lot of money. You can easily find a lot of great new tops and bottoms on sale racks, you just have to do a bit of digging.

Even if you have never been a great shopper before, applying these easy style tips will be easy. Basic wardrobe planning is really all about rounding out your entire fashion look, which should be a fun task. LeSportsac and Tokidoki

The Cactus Friends, the Moofia, Adios & Ciao Ciao! If you have any idea what I am talking about, it may be due to LeSportsac.

LeSportsac got its start as a small fashion bag company in 1974. It was popular throughout the 70's and part of the 80's but mellowed out for a while until its comeback in the early 2000's. In 2001, the co-owner of LeSportsac, Timothy Schifter, announced that the company would be making some changes. Instead of concentrating on the 35+ age group, the company began designing fashion bags for the younger crowd. This decision has led LeSportsac into the heart of pop culture territory. The company now has a line labeled by Gwen Stefani and LeSportsac bags have even been seen adorning fashionable Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) on the popular HBO series Sex in the City.

This comeback may have been right on-time. In 2003 an Italian artist named Simone Legno was discovered and entered into a collaboration with the co-founder of the Hard Candy cosmetics company, Pooneh Mohajer, and her husband, Ivan Arnold. Several other collaborations followed but despite the variety of Tokidoki items, until recently many fans only knew Simone Legno's art through fashion bags made by LeSportSac.

The fashion bag company began producing Tokidoki merchandise in 2006 and since then Tokidoki art is quickly moving into the center of pop culture.

The Tokidoki-LeSportsac collaboration has proven to be so successful that the fashion bags have been known to sell for up to four times their retail value on E-bay. There are even issues with faux Tokidoki fashion bags being passed off as the real thing. This problem is so bad that in 2007 a blog was created by Tokidoki to help consumers avoid purchasing a reproduction.

The cute Tokidoki art is not the only thing that has made this particular LeSportsac line so popular. Each bag comes with a Tokidoki character keychain called a Qee. These keychains have become a favorite collector's item among Tokidoki fans.

Fans are now awaiting the new Tokidoki bags for 2008. LeSportsac is going to remove their label from the bags and they will be branded as Tokidoki only. These new bags will be available in 8 styles. There will be 4 new prints for 2008: a fun print featuring carnival foods called Carnival, Eco-Mondo - a print for lovers of the environment, a punk motif called Concerto Punk, and the last will be a plain black design featuring Adios, Fantasmino, and Nana on the lining.

It is amazing what the right collaboration can do for the fashion world and for those involved. Now, the Cactus Friends, a group of very prickly anime-style cartoons wearing cactus costumes in order to protect themselves from the cruelty of the world, the Moofia, a cute but fierce variety of cartoons representing the different types of milk that are consumed throughout the world, and Adios, the Grim-reaper, along with his girlfriend, Ciao Ciao, are becoming household names. The heart and cross-bones and other Tokidoki depictions have become everyday sights. Due to a series of collaborations, Tokidoki items now range from apparel to footwear and from toys to sporting goods.
